For longtime Nantucket resident Martin “Marty” S., home has always been more than just a place to live—it’s his connection to the island he loves. Like many longtime homeowners, Marty wanted to remain in his home but faced financial challenges due to Nantucket’s high cost of living. Through Housing Nantucket’s Covenant Program, he found a solution that worked for both himself and a new island homeowner.

By subdividing his property, Marty created a Covenant home for himself while selling the newly created vacant parcel at market rate.
