Housing Nantucket recently marked an exciting milestone in our Pochick Avenue house move project by hosting an Open House to celebrate the transformation of this property into much-needed workforce housing. Community members, local officials, and project partners gathered to tour the newly renovated home and learn more about the initiative’s impact.

A Look Back: The Journey of Pochick Ave

Last year, Housing Nantucket embarked on an ambitious effort to relocate and repurpose an existing home, giving it new life while increasing the island’s workforce housing inventory. The move itself was no small feat—careful planning and collaboration with town officials, contractors, and donors made this project possible. By adding a full basement, the home’s housing capacity was doubled.

This project is only possible due to the generosity of our donors. Through a partnership with the Town of Nantucket’s Affordable Housing Trust (AHT), we were able to secure the resources needed to bring this initiative to life. The collaboration between public and private funding sources highlights the power of collective action in tackling Nantucket’s housing challenges.

Celebrating Progress

During the Open House, attendees explored the beautifully restored home and heard firsthand how projects like this are making a difference in the community. Executive Director Anne Kuszpa shared insights on the initiative, emphasizing the importance of creative solutions in addressing Nantucket’s housing crisis. 

Impact & Next Steps 

With the completion of Pochick Ave, an island family will now have access to stable housing. This success underscores the importance of adaptive reuse and sustainable development as part of our strategy to meet the growing need for workforce housing on Nantucket.
